What can you learn from a ‘staff impression’?
Author: London Sperm Bank
The London Sperm Bank has a unique and extensive donor catalogue that allows women and couples to look for their potential donor in an informed way.
The donor profiles come with information such as height, hair colour and eye colour. It also details skills, hobbies and interests.
Uniquely, our donor profiles also come with a short paragraph at the top – an overview that we refer to as a ‘staff impression’.
Staff at the London Sperm Bank come to know donors quite well. Donors will come in and out of the bank for the best part of the year, stop for conversations, have a cup of coffee. Many of them talk about their lives, families and careers, as well as their hopes and dreams.
Our staff impressions give those seeking donor sperm the singular opportunity to ‘meet’ their donor through this one brief paragraph.
Here is one such staff impression taken from the profile of Donor 1487.
“He has olive skin that darkens with his time in the sun. He has brown almond shaped eyes and matching dark brown hair that he keeps short. This donor has full lips and is always smiling revealing straight white teeth. He is usually clean shaven but has been known to sport a 5 O’clock shadow from time to time, making him a ruggedly handsome man.”
Our staff impressions don’t just describe looks, we try to give as much of a sense as possible about what kind of personality a donor has, what kind of ‘vibe’ they give out.
Just like this one from Donor 1359:
“A very respectful and modest donor who joined the programme with a sheer notion to ‘help people in whatever way possible'.”
Or this one from Donor 1090:
“This donor is soft spoken and has immaculate manners. He is always well dressed, arriving to the donor bank in a well-tailored suit and polished shoes. He is a hard worker who is proud of his achievements. He has the 'get up and get on with' approach, but that does not detract him from being friendly and an amenable person.”
The London Sperm Bank makes sperm donor selection that much easier with this personalised approach. Also, it helps us fully appreciate the men who take the take to donate altruistically with our bank.
