The London Sperm Bank…

The London Sperm Bank opened in March 2010 and was founded to address the acute donor sperm shortage in the UK. Incorporating Dr. Louis Hughes sperm bank (established 1976) and The London Women’s Clinic sperm bank, The London Sperm Bank is now the country’s largest provider of donor sperm.

At any given time we have approximately 10,000 vials of donor sperm available. This allows our affiliated fertility centres, The London Women’s Clinics, to use donated sperm in approximately 1000 treatment cycles per year.

However, the demand for donor sperm in the UK is much greater than this; we hope in the near future we will have built up a diverse stock of sperm which allows us to provide other HFEA-licensed fertility centres.

Our aim is to give women in the UK maximum choice of donor sperm without having to undertake expensive travel abroad. We support the HFEA’s anxiety about women procuring sperm from non-licensed sources. With the convenient central location of the London Sperm Bank and friendly welcoming atmosphere, we make it as easy as possible for you to become a sperm donor.
